mile island! Novice and accomplished golfers
will find the course that is right for them.
From a par-3 and mini golf facility to courses
designed by Charles Blair MacDonald and Robert
Trent Jones designs. Many feature picturesque

in the world, as well as the Tiff Eagle grass
greens. There are three public courses and five
private clubs; all can be played by the rules
and tee time bookings vary, so check carefully.

Belmont
Hills Golf Club
This
centrally located semi-private resort
course offers a demanding round of golf
on pristine, intensely bunkered U.S.G.A.
greens. Panoramas of Hamilton Harbour
and the Great Sound provide the backdrop
for some of the finest eighteen holes
on the Island. Veteran golf writer Ben
Wright declared that he was “lost
in admiration” for the newly designed
6,100 yard course. Expect superb service,
friendly resident pros and a golf concierge
plus a café and golf lockers. It’s
easily accessible by taxi, bus, ferry
or motor scooter.

St
George's Golf Club
Another
Robert Trent Jones design, this 18 hole,
par 62 course is 4,043 yards. Although
the course is short, there are several
holes that Robert Trent Jones designed
to give golfers fits, depending on the
wind. Driving into a stiff ocean breeze
can reduce a five iron to a nine iron,
and holes get progressively tougher as
the course goes on. Choose your weapons
carefully. Club Rentals and Shoe Rental
available.
